We look forward to welcoming you to our hospital.
When you arrive at Waratah Private, you will be greeted at reception and then taken to the admission area for your procedure.
Your nurse will discuss the admission process with you and will make you feel as comfortable as possible.
Your nurse will then take your blood pressure, heart rate and temperature. They will also discuss any relevant medical information with you – i.e. allergies, medications and medical history.
You will be asked to change into a theatre gown and you may also be given a ‘pre-medication’ before going to the operating theatre. A ‘pre-medication’ is a tablet or tablets to relax you if you are nervous, or to help with your pain relief after the operation. Your nurse will then accompany you to the operating theatre.
Once your surgery is complete, our recovery room nursing staff will take care of you until you are ready to return to your room.
We welcome enquiries from you and your support people about your treatment at any time.
We encourage children to bring their favourite toys with them. It is also a good idea to organise a visit to Waratah Private in advance of your child’s admission, so that they will be familiar with our hospital when they are admitted.
If you are a parent or caregiver, you may stay with your child overnight if you wish. Please arrange this with our admissions staff as soon as possible.
Throughout the year Waratah Private Hospital is visited by trainee doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and physiotherapists. An essential part of their training is caring for people, which occurs only under the direct supervision of our senior staff and specialists. We will always ask for your consent to have a trainee involved in your care prior to any consultation or treatment.
