Dr Appukutty (Kumar) Manickam’s Rehabilitation Medicine training was undertaken at tertiary teaching hospitals across Sydney, including Concord, St George and Liverpool Hospitals, and subacute hospitals such as Lady Davidson, Ryde, Calvary and Metro Rehabilitation Hospitals.
Dr Manickam’s interests are in pain management, acute stroke management, stroke & spinal injury rehabilitation, movement disorders and the applications of artificial intelligence in medicine.
He tailored his education towards this, having completed Rehabilitation Medicine, Master of Medicine (Surgery), surgical, critical care and radiology training. He worked in neurosurgery and intensive care units in Queensland for 6 years, published in various neurology & neurosurgical journals and presented in neurosurgical & radiology conferences. This training has provided expertise in Rehabilitation, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Orthopedics and General Medicine. His aim is to provide holistic care by maximizing patient function and quality of life through a multidisciplinary pain program
