About Dr Amy Pai

Dr. Amy Pai specialises in treating retinal problems including diabetic retinopathy, age related macular degeneration, myopic degeneration, polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, genetic eye problems, as well as ocular problems caused by uveitis. She is also experienced in treating common eye problems including cataract and dermatochalasis.

She completed her undergraduate medical degree at the University of New South Wales after entering the university with the Premier’s Award of Excellence. She furthered her academic pursuits in completing a PhD in clinical ophthalmology at the University of Sydney. She has been recognised for her research with many prestigious awards including the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) postgraduate scholarship, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) travel grant, Westmead Charitable Trust Travel Scholarship, and the most recent RANZCO industry sponsored scholarship. She has published in many peer reviewed journals and is a current clinical associate lecturer at the University of Sydney.

After completing her Ophthalmology training in the Sydney Eye Network, she went on to complete a Fellowship in Medical Retina and Uveitis at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital in London (2016/7). In her own time, she also went to National Taiwan Uni- versity Hospital to learn about particular retinal and uveitic condi- tions prevalent in the Asian population, as well as blepharoplasty.

Dr. Amy Pai is fluent in Mandarin, and speaks some Cantonese and Japanese.
